HubSpot Breeze Prospecting Agent vs an AI SDR - Zian AI

HubSpot Breeze Prospecting Agent vs an AI SDR

Quick answer: HubSpot’s prospecting agent (the “Breeze” agent people search for) costs 100 HubSpot Credits, US$1, per lead it writes outreach for, as at 4 October 2026, and every step it sends on its own is an email. Included credits cover 5, 30 or 50 leads a month on standard Sales Hub plans. A dedicated AI SDR earns its place when your CRM is not HubSpot, when calls, SMS or WhatsApp book your meetings, or when you need two data providers at once.

This page is for teams already running HubSpot who are asking the question in their own words: “I have HubSpot Sales Hub. Is the prospecting agent enough, or do I need a separate AI SDR?” We read HubSpot’s own pages on 4 October 2026: the setup article for the prospecting agent, the Product & Services Catalog and its HubSpot Credits rate sheet, the product page, and the knowledge-base articles on HubSpot Credits, sequences and send limits. The agent sits inside HubSpot Smart CRM, takes contacts from ZoomInfo, Apollo, Surfe or Seamless, drafts in a rep’s voice, and sends from a rep’s connected inbox, such as Gmail or Office 365. Every figure below links to the HubSpot page it came from, in the source table at the end.

Where Zian sits

Zian AI is an autonomous AI sales-agents platform, not a HubSpot add-on. Its agents answer inbound calls and work leads across phone, SMS, email, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook in 30+ languages, with SmartReach AI™ choosing message, channel and timing and pacing follow-up, and PrecisionPitch AI™ split-testing scripts and approaches. It publishes API and CRM integrations with HubSpot, Salesforce, HighLevel and Zapier, and private model deployment on customer infrastructure. On the Runway-and-Channel Test, Zian belongs in the channel row: the case where a call or a WhatsApp message, not an email, is what books the meeting. On its home page Zian reports 28x more contact attempts and a 2,736% increase in lead contact rates; those are first-party figures. Zian does not publish a per-lead price during the partnership-application beta, so you cannot run the arithmetic above against it from a public page; ask for it in the same unit.

Is HubSpot’s prospecting agent enough, or do I need a dedicated AI SDR?

It depends on six things, and only one of them is price. Decide them in this order, because each one can end the comparison on its own:

  1. Your CRM. HubSpot’s product page says the agent is “built into HubSpot’s Smart CRM”. If your system of record is Salesforce or HighLevel, the question does not arise.
  2. The channel that books your meetings. If your meetings come from email replies, the agent covers the channel. If they come from a phone call inside five minutes, an SMS or a WhatsApp thread, read the channel section below before anything else.
  3. Monthly lead volume against your included credits. Each lead costs 100 credits. Your plan includes 500, 3,000 or 5,000 credits a month on HubSpot’s standard pricing (500, 5,000 or 10,000 with Data Hub or Customer Platform), shared with every other credit-using feature.
  4. Your plan and seats. Only users on paid seats can spend credits, and the sequences tool behind the agent’s Sequence method needs Sales Hub or Service Hub Professional or Enterprise.
  5. Where your contacts come from. The agent connects one external data source at a time.
  6. How much autonomy you want. Both routes can hold every send for review. The question is who maintains the rules.

The rest of this page works through each criterion with HubSpot’s own numbers, then turns them into a threshold table you can apply to your own account.

What the HubSpot prospecting agent is, as at 4 October 2026

HubSpot has renamed its AI features before (its agent builder was “formerly known as Breeze studio”), so start with the names on its pages today. The knowledge-base article is titled “Set up and use the prospecting agent”, the product page calls it the AI Prospecting Agent, and the catalogue lists it as “Prospecting agent” under Agent Hub. “Breeze” now names the assistant (Breeze Assistant), which can enrol a contact into the agent from anywhere in HubSpot. The agent article still links to a page on “how Breeze Agents use HubSpot Credits”, which is why the search “hubspot breeze prospecting agent” and the product are the same thing.

The agent works from plays. A play has five tabs: Audience, Context, Outreach, Guardrails and Automation. In Audience you pick company segments to monitor for intent signals (funding news, product launches, research activity) and target personas. HubSpot says “The personas you select determine which contacts the agent will suggest for enrollment”, and you set a daily cap on new contact suggestions per play; HubSpot adds that “Suggestions are based on companies showing signals, so you may see fewer contact recommendations than the limit you set.” It reads engagement on contact records going back up to a year: form submissions, page views, calls, meetings, notes and email opens.

Corrected 10 October 2026: this paragraph previously quoted HubSpot as saying the agent “will find up to three contacts matching your personas per company enrolled in the play”. That sentence is no longer in HubSpot’s setup article (last updated 8 October 2026), and we found no per-company contact limit on HubSpot’s other prospecting agent, intent signal, product or catalogue pages. The article now says the personas you select determine which contacts the agent suggests, within the daily limit you set for the play.

Outreach has two methods. Sequence “sends personalized, multi-channel outreach with an AI sequence”. Adaptive “sends personalized emails that adapt based on the enrolled prospect’s actions, engagement, and signals”, with a minimum gap between emails and a maximum number of emails per enrolment that the agent obeys whatever your custom instructions say. Guardrails set the sender (the contact owner’s connected inbox with a fallback user, or one named user), tone or brand voice, business-days-only sending, a send window and a default time zone. In Adaptive plays the agent can also write in the contact’s preferred language.

Automation has two settings: Review before sending, where the sender approves each message, and Send automatically. HubSpot also notes that when you edit a play, the changes apply only to newly enrolled contacts; people already enrolled keep the version they started on.

HubSpot prospecting agent vs a dedicated AI SDR: side by side

The left column is what HubSpot documents. The right column is not a claim about any one vendor: it is what a separate AI SDR has to show you, on its own pages or in a trial, to be worth a second contract next to HubSpot.

Criterion HubSpot prospecting agent (HubSpot’s pages, 4 Oct 2026) What a dedicated AI SDR has to prove
CRM Built into HubSpot Smart CRM A working write-back to your CRM: activities, outcomes, meetings
Plan needed Starter, Professional or Enterprise (setup article and catalogue); a June 2026 HubSpot article says Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise Its own plan, on top of your HubSpot seats
Price unit 100 credits per lead it recommends outreach for = US$1 at US$0.010 a credit A unit you can convert to cost per lead (seat, contact, message or credit)
Included allowance Standard plans: 500 / 3,000 / 5,000 credits a month (5 / 30 / 50 leads); Data Hub or Customer Platform: 500 / 5,000 / 10,000 (5 / 50 / 100 leads); flexible seats-and-credits programme: 5,000 / 10,000 / 15,000 Whatever its plan bundles
Steps it sends on its own Email (Adaptive emails; automated email steps in a Sequence) Each channel it claims, shown sending without a person
Other channels Sequences list call, manual email and LinkedIn InMail or connection requests as tasks for a person Phone, SMS or WhatsApp placed by the agent, if those channels book your meetings
Daily volume Sends from connected inboxes: 350 (free Gmail) or 1,000 (Google Workspace, Office 365) one-to-one emails a day; sequences 500 per Professional seat, 1,000 per Enterprise seat Its own sending limits and the infrastructure behind them
Contact data Your CRM, plus one external source at a time: Apollo, Surfe, ZoomInfo or Seamless Which sources it searches, and whether you can use more than one
Human review Review before sending, or Send automatically; daily review digest at 9am A per-message hold it documents, and who can switch it off
Spend controls Account, feature and (for intent) action-level credit limits; alerts at 75%, 85% and 90% A hard monthly cap you set
Trial 14 days of free access, no credits used, for eligible Professional or Enterprise accounts A trial on your own leads, not a demo list

Two rows decide most cases: the price unit, because it scales one-for-one with leads, and the channels, because HubSpot’s agent executes one channel by itself. The rest are hygiene.

Which HubSpot plan do I need for the prospecting agent?

HubSpot’s setup article, last updated 30 September 2026, lists the agent as available with Marketing Hub, Sales Hub, Service Hub, Data Hub and Content Hub at Starter, Professional and Enterprise, and with Smart CRM at Professional and Enterprise, with “HubSpot Credits required”. The catalogue’s Agent Hub table agrees: “Any Starter, Professional, or Enterprise-edition product.” The product page says the same.

One HubSpot page disagrees. The guide “Get started with AI-powered prospecting”, last updated 21 June 2026, says “A Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise subscription is required to use the prospecting agent.” It is the oldest-dated of these pages, so treat the newer setup article, catalogue and product page as current, and confirm in your own account under Sales > Prospecting Agent before you budget.

Three further conditions sit underneath the tier:

  • Seats. HubSpot’s Manage HubSpot Credits article says only users with paid seats (Core, Sales, Service, Revenue) and Partner Seats can use credits; free and view-only users cannot.
  • Sequences. HubSpot’s sequences article lists the tool for Sales Hub and Service Hub Professional and Enterprise only, and needs an assigned Sales or Service seat. The agent article does not say whether a Starter account can pick the Sequence method; on Starter, plan on Adaptive until HubSpot confirms otherwise.
  • Settings. AI access, CRM data, customer conversation data and files data must be switched on in AI settings, and the user must be a Super Admin or have prospecting agent permissions. Credit-consuming actions do not run in sandbox accounts.

The catalogue lists Sales Hub from US$20 a seat a month on Starter, from US$100 on Professional (plus a US$1,500 one-time onboarding fee) and from US$150 on Enterprise (plus US$3,500), as at 4 October 2026. Those seat prices are the floor of the native route, before any credits.

How many HubSpot Credits does the prospecting agent use?

The catalogue’s rate sheet lists one line for the agent: “Recommend outreach for one lead”, 100 credits. Additional credits cost US$0.010 each, so that is US$1.00 a lead, the same figure the product page prints (“You pay $1 for each lead prospecting agent recommends outreach for”). The setup article adds a qualifier you should not skip: credits are consumed per lead “with additional steps based on your play settings”. Tracking companies for intent signals is a separate rate-sheet line at 10 credits per company per month, and the intent signals article confirms that tracking companies needs credits. Read the numbers below as a floor.

Included credits depend on your highest subscription tier and are not added together across hubs. On HubSpot’s standard pricing they are 500 (Starter), 3,000 (Professional) and 5,000 (Enterprise) a month for Smart CRM, Marketing, Sales, Service, Content or Revenue Hub; the catalogue gives Data Hub and Customer Platform subscriptions 500, 5,000 and 10,000, a runway of 5, 50 and 100 leads. HubSpot also runs a separate “flexible seats-and-credits pricing program”, described in its own catalogue supplement as a limited release, with 5,000, 10,000 and 15,000 included credits and euro pricing. Check which one your contract is on; the knowledge-base article for that programme uses 15,000 as its Enterprise example, the standard one uses 5,000.

The included-credit runway is the number of leads your plan covers before you pay anything extra: included credits ÷ 100. That is 5 leads a month on Starter, 30 on Professional and 50 on Enterprise on standard pricing, if nothing else in the account spends credits. Customer agent conversations, AI workflow actions and intent tracking all draw on the same pool.

Worked example: a Sales Hub Professional account wants the agent to work 300 leads a month. 300 × 100 = 30,000 credits. Subtract the 3,000 included: 27,000 credits to buy. At US$0.010 that is US$270 a month, or 27 capacity packs at US$10 per 1,000 credits. Substitute your own volume in the same three steps.

Leads a month Credits needed Starter (500 included) Professional (3,000 included) Enterprise (5,000 included)
30 3,000 US$25 US$0 US$0
100 10,000 US$95 US$70 US$50
300 30,000 US$295 US$270 US$250
1,000 100,000 US$995 US$970 US$950

Extra credits a month at US$0.010, standard pricing, excluding seat fees and any other credit use. Recomputed from HubSpot’s rate sheet on 4 October 2026.

Above the runway, every additional lead costs the same US$1 on every tier; the tier only changes where the meter starts. HubSpot’s Agent Packs keep the same rate: the Growth Agents Pack is US$400 a month for 40,000 credits, which is 400 leads. To put US$1 a lead beside a dedicated tool’s quote, convert that quote into the same unit first; our page on why AI SDR prices in seats, contacts, messages and credits do not convert walks through the conversion.

Two billing rules change the risk. If you have only included credits, credit-using features pause when they run out, until the next monthly reset or until you buy more. Overages exist only after you buy additional credits, and capacity packs can be cancelled only at the end of your contract term. HubSpot sets an account spend limit 50% above your monthly total once you buy, and lets you cap the agent on its own with a feature-level limit. HubSpot’s agent credit-usage article also notes that on 23 July 2026 “all AI agents started consuming HubSpot Credits”, so a quote from before that date may be out of date.

Does the HubSpot prospecting agent make phone calls, SMS or WhatsApp?

In the HubSpot pages we read on 4 October 2026, every step the agent sends without a person is an email. The Adaptive method “sends personalized emails”. The Sequence method is described as “multi-channel”, and the product page says outreach gets better “across phone calls, LinkedIn messages, emails, and more”. But the agent article sends you to HubSpot’s sequences article to add steps, and that article lists one automated step (automated email) and five task types a person completes: manual email, call, general, LinkedIn Sales Navigator InMail and connection request. The agent’s own Performance report counts enrolments, delivered, opened, clicked and replied emails, and booked meetings.

HubSpot does have a voice agent: the catalogue’s rate sheet lists “Hold one minute of voice conversation” for the Customer agent, a beta, at 50 credits. That is a service agent for answering customers, not the prospecting agent. We read the agent article, the product page, the catalogue and its flexible-pricing supplement, the sequences, send-limit, credits and intent articles, the 14-day access article and the get-started guide. We did not read HubSpot’s product-update blog or changelog, so a newly shipped channel would not be on this page.

This matters most when your leads expect a call. If you are still deciding which channel should lead, our comparison of AI voice agents vs AI email SDRs sets out when voice-first wins and when email-first does.

The Runway-and-Channel Test: when to stay native and when to add an AI SDR

The Runway-and-Channel Test asks two questions: does your lead volume fit inside your included credits, and does email book your meetings? If both answers are yes, HubSpot’s agent is the right first move. If either is no, the table says what to check next.

If this is true of your account Do this Why (HubSpot’s pages)
Your CRM is not HubSpot Skip the HubSpot agent; evaluate dedicated AI SDRs The agent is built into HubSpot Smart CRM
Leads a month ≤ included credits ÷ 100 (5 / 30 / 50 on standard Sales Hub plans) and email books your meetings Use the HubSpot agent; start with Review before sending No extra credit cost inside the runway
Leads a month above the runway, email-led Price the overage at US$1 a lead and compare like-for-like with a dedicated quote 100 credits per lead at US$0.010
Calls, SMS or WhatsApp book your meetings Add a dedicated agent that places those touches itself The agent auto-sends email; calls and LinkedIn are tasks for a person
You need more than one contact-data provider at once Plan a dedicated tool or swap the connected source per campaign One external data source connected at a time
You are on Professional or Enterprise and have never used the agent Run the 14-day free access before buying anything else No credits used during free access

The test is deliberately conservative about buying a second tool. A HubSpot account with 30 email-led leads a month on Professional has no credit reason to add anything. The case for a dedicated AI SDR is strongest where the channel row says yes, because no amount of extra credits makes the HubSpot agent dial the phone itself.

Who each option is wrong for

HubSpot’s prospecting agent is wrong for teams whose CRM is not HubSpot; teams whose meetings come from phone, SMS or WhatsApp contact rather than email replies; high-volume programmes where a flat US$1 a lead above the runway outgrows a dedicated tool’s unit price; and teams that need several data vendors feeding one play at once. It is also a poor fit if nobody owns credit monitoring: with only included credits, every credit-using feature in the account pauses when the pool runs dry.

A dedicated AI SDR is wrong for HubSpot teams with email-led motions inside their included-credit runway, because they would pay twice for a channel HubSpot already covers; teams without anyone to maintain a second integration, since every activity must still land on the HubSpot record (our field-sync blueprint for connecting an AI agent to HubSpot and Salesforce lists what has to sync); and buyers who want one vendor to answer for data handling. HubSpot’s review step and credit caps are built in, and a separate tool has to match them. Our audit of which AI SDR vendors let a person approve each send shows how unevenly that is documented outside HubSpot.

Frequently asked questions

Is the HubSpot Breeze prospecting agent the same thing as the prospecting agent?

Yes. HubSpot’s pages as at 4 October 2026 call it the prospecting agent, and the product page calls it the AI Prospecting Agent. The Breeze name survives in Breeze Assistant, which can enrol contacts into the agent, and in a knowledge-base link that still reads “Breeze Agents”.

How much does the HubSpot prospecting agent cost per lead?

100 HubSpot Credits each time it recommends outreach for one lead, which HubSpot’s product and services catalogue prices at US$0.010 a credit: US$1 a lead, as at 4 October 2026. HubSpot’s setup article adds that further steps can use credits, depending on your play settings.

Which HubSpot plan do I need for the prospecting agent?

HubSpot’s September 2026 setup article and its catalogue list Starter, Professional and Enterprise. An older June 2026 HubSpot article says Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise. Only users on paid seats can spend credits, and the 14-day free access offer needs Professional or Enterprise.

Can the HubSpot prospecting agent make phone calls or send SMS?

Not in the HubSpot pages we read on 4 October 2026. Every step it sends on its own is an email. Its Sequence method is described as multi-channel, but HubSpot’s sequences article lists calls and LinkedIn steps as tasks for a person. The voice capability in HubSpot’s catalogue belongs to the Customer agent, a service tool.

How many emails a day can the HubSpot prospecting agent send?

HubSpot does not print a daily cap in the agent article. It sends from a connected inbox, and HubSpot caps one-to-one email at 350 a day for free Gmail and 1,000 for Google Workspace or Office 365. Sequences are capped at 500 a day per Professional seat and 1,000 per Enterprise seat.

When does a dedicated AI SDR make more sense than HubSpot’s agent?

When your CRM is not HubSpot, when phone, SMS or WhatsApp books your meetings, or when you need two contact-data providers at once. Within your included-credit runway, which is 5, 30 or 50 leads a month on standard Sales Hub plans, HubSpot’s agent costs nothing extra in credits.
