Aircall vs PhoneBurner for SDRs: Which to Pick - Zian AI

Aircall vs PhoneBurner for SDRs: Which to Pick

Quick answer: Aircall is a cloud phone system whose one-line Power Dialer comes with its Professional plan at US$50 a licence a month billed annually, for at least 3 licences. PhoneBurner is a single-line power dialler with its own CRM, from US$140 a user a month billed annually, with no contract, but it dials only US and Canadian numbers. If leads go uncalled, an AI agent such as Zian makes the calls itself. Prices as at 30 October 2026.

“Aircall vs PhoneBurner for my SDRs” compares two different kinds of product. Aircall sells the whole business phone line, with an IVR, inbound queues and numbers in 38 countries, and its Power Dialer is one feature of that. PhoneBurner sells a dialler built around outbound sessions: a CRM, one-click voicemail, LeadStream lead distribution, ARMOR® spam-flag remediation and Connect Scores. So two questions decide this before price does. Where do your SDRs dial? And do they also answer inbound calls? Every vendor fact below comes from Aircall’s and PhoneBurner’s own pricing pages, help centres and terms, read on 30 October 2026.

Where Zian fits before you buy dialler seats

If your SDRs cannot reach every lead, or leads wait hours for a first call and never get a second, start with an AI agent rather than more dialler seats. Zian AI is an AI sales and reception agents platform whose agents place outbound calls, follow up by SMS, email and WhatsApp, and book the appointment themselves.

They also answer inbound calls 24/7 as an AI receptionist that qualifies, books, transfers and takes messages. They handle answering machines and voicemail, and hold conversations in Instagram DMs and Facebook Messenger. Zian works in 30+ languages and connects to HubSpot, Salesforce, HighLevel, Zapier and an API. Zian’s home page reports 28x more contact attempts, a 926% increase in follow-ups, and AI that books 40+ meetings/week for many teams.

Zian is not the only AI caller on this page. Aircall sells an AI Sales Agent that calls a new HubSpot lead “typically inside a minute”, makes one more attempt if nobody answers, and then hands the lead to a rep; its page says it can also “work a fresh list” or re-engage dormant leads “at any volume”. PhoneBurner takes the opposite position: its FAQ says your rep will “remain on the phone live from the beginning to end of each call.” Our comparison of AI sales platforms that work alongside a human SDR team shows how an agent and a dialler split the work.

The honest limit: Zian is in a partnership-application beta with no published prices; zian.ai lists a Free Forever plan (Intel + Widgets). If you would rather have the calling run for you, LeadsNow.ai is the done-for-you option: a managed, pay-per-result AI appointment-setting service that runs on Zian, answers leads in under 60 seconds, 24/7, and has set 50,769+ appointments.

Aircall vs PhoneBurner for SDRs: the shortlist

Rows 1 and 2 are our picks for teams that want calls made without adding headcount. Rows 3 and 4 are this page’s head-to-head, unranked against each other because the right one depends on where you dial, whether reps take inbound calls, and team size (see the decision table). For a wider field that also covers Nooks, RocketPhone and Frontspin, see our comparison of RocketPhone, Aircall, Nooks and Frontspin for SDRs.

Aircall vs PhoneBurner: the head-to-head table

Each cell is the vendor’s own wording or a direct summary, read on 30 October 2026. Aircall prices are its US list prices; PhoneBurner shows a dollar sign with no currency code and dials only North American numbers.

Criterion Aircall PhoneBurner
Dialling mode Power Dialer dials an imported list “in sequence”, with wrap-up time between calls; its outbound stack guide says Aircall is “not a parallel dialer” FAQ: “Can I dial more than 1 person at a time? No, and for good reason”; “a single-line dialer”. Its auto dialler page says reps can “dial several lines simultaneously”
Which plan has the dialler Power Dialer on Professional and above; not Essentials. Desktop and web apps only, not mobile. Professional also has Outbound Campaigns for human agents, “currently in beta”: several reps dial one shared list, with automated retries Unlimited power dialling on all three plans
List size per session Power Dialer: “A list can contain up to 1,000 numbers”. Outbound Campaigns (beta): no limit on contacts per campaign, up to 10,000 rows per CSV import Contact imports of 10,000, 20,000 or 50,000 a month by plan; Salesforce report-based dialling “up to 500 contacts at a time”
Published dial rate “reps call 3x more leads per hour” (September 2026 guide) “agents can reach up to 80 contacts per hour”
Inbound calls during a dial session Status is set to Busy, so the rep “will not receive incoming calls”, even when paused Callbacks on all plans; in-app callback answering, inbound routing and a PhoneBurner number on Premium
Voicemail drop Professional; up to 10 messages per user, each up to 180 seconds; desktop and web “1-click voicemails” on all plans; “as many pre-recorded voicemails as you need”
Local presence Professional and above; works “worldwide”, choosing from numbers already assigned to the agent Needs approval: a form and proof of business “for each state”; matches numbers from your inventory
Numbers 1 local or toll-free number included; US$6 a month each after that Use your own caller ID or buy numbers; price shown at checkout, not on the pricing page
Spam-flag tools Number Reputation Dashboard US$0.03 a check; Branded Caller ID US$0.08 a call per brand ARMOR® add-on, US$5 a month per PhoneBurner-purchased number; not for trials or your own numbers
Call recording All plans; access up to 1 year on Essentials, unlimited on Professional (by request; 6 months in the dashboard) All plans; storage 30 days, 90 days or unlimited by plan
Countries you can dial Unlimited US and Canada calls on US plans; international “Contact us for rates and bundle”; numbers in 38 countries “can only be used to dial numbers in the United States and Canada”
Seats and terms Minimum 3 licences (Enterprise 25), monthly or annual; no refunds; 30 days’ written notice before renewal on plans over 10 seats and on annual or committed plans From one seat; “no contracts or setup fees”; annual plans save about 15%; annual fees non-refundable; no pro-rated refund on immediate cancellation

In one line: Aircall is a phone system with a dialler for teams that also take calls or dial outside North America; PhoneBurner is a dialler-and-CRM for North American outbound teams, with no seat minimum and no contract.

Dialling mode: is either one a parallel dialler?

Neither is a parallel dialler by its own main description. Aircall’s September 2026 guide to the outbound sales stack says Aircall “is not a sequencing platform and not a parallel dialer, so teams running multi-channel cadences or very high-volume cold calling will still pair it with a sales engagement tool or a parallel dialer.” Its Power Dialer help article describes a list that the software dials “in sequence”, pausing for wrap-up after each call.

One Aircall label can mislead. Its pricing table ticks “Parallel calls” on every plan. Its help centre defines that as putting “an active call on hold” to start a second one, with “a maximum of 2 calls” active at once. It is a way to consult a colleague, not multi-line dialling.

PhoneBurner argues against multi-line dialling outright. Its FAQ says multi-line diallers “result in dropped calls that put companies at risk of costly TCPA and TSR violations”, and calls PhoneBurner “a single-line dialer”. One PhoneBurner page disagrees. Its auto dialler page, read on 30 October 2026, says “The platform allows each rep to dial several lines simultaneously”, while the table on the same page says “Up to 60–80 contacts per hour, per rep on a single line”. If you need more than one line per rep, get the answer in writing, or read our PhoneBurner vs Nooks comparison of power and parallel dialling.

The practical difference is what sits around the dial session. PhoneBurner’s session window runs the follow-up: one-click voicemails, emails and dispositions, and LeadStream routing new leads to reps. Aircall’s session is one feature of a phone system that also routes inbound calls. Its help article warns that during a Power Dialer session “you will not receive incoming calls”, so a rep who also covers a support queue must end or pause the session and reset their status.

Can PhoneBurner or Aircall call Australian or UK numbers?

PhoneBurner cannot. Its FAQ says: “While our service can be used anywhere, currently PhoneBurner can only be used to dial numbers in the United States and Canada.” It adds that it is “exploring international dialing”. Even Canadian area-code numbers are “available by special request”.

Aircall can, at a price you request. Its US Essentials and Professional plans include unlimited calls within the US and Canada; international outbound calls are “Contact us for rates and bundle”, and Enterprise lists unlimited worldwide calls. Its country coverage page lists numbers in 38 countries, including Australia, the UK and New Zealand. Its Australian pricing page lists Essentials at A$45 and Professional at A$75 per licence a month billed annually. Professional there includes “Unlimited domestic outbound calls (landline and mobile)”; Essentials includes 1,000 domestic outbound minutes per user a month. Aircall’s bundles article says the domestic bundle follows your billing address, so a team operating in Australia under another address must ask its Customer Success Manager to switch it. Its Permissible Use Policy keeps the right, “notwithstanding” an unlimited package, to “impose limits” on usage, charge “the applicable messaging rate”, or suspend or terminate the service.

Australian teams calling Australian consumers also have the Do Not Call Register and the telemarketing standard to meet whichever tool they use; our guide to AI cold calling rules in Australia covers both.

CRM fit: Salesforce, HubSpot and Pipedrive

HubSpot. Aircall’s pricing table includes its HubSpot integration on every plan. PhoneBurner’s HubSpot page says to “Install the free Chrome extension”, and that every call, note and voicemail logs back to HubSpot.

Salesforce. Aircall’s Salesforce integration is not on Essentials. Its help article requires Aircall Professional or Custom, and Salesforce Enterprise or Unlimited, “not a Group or Essentials plan”; Salesforce Professional works only with API access bought from Salesforce, and then without the Omni-Channel feature. PhoneBurner’s Salesforce page offers report-based dialling of “up to 500 contacts at a time, compared to the 200-record cap of a standard list view”.

Pipedrive. Aircall lists a native Pipedrive integration on every plan; its install guide needs admin rights in both tools and seven free custom fields in Pipedrive. PhoneBurner’s power dialler page names Pipedrive among the CRMs it “integrates with”, and a PhoneBurner blog post on tech-sales cold calling describes “no-code connections with Pipedrive or Apollo”. Its help centre is more specific: PhoneBurner “does not have a direct integration with Pipedrive but this can be done with a third-party integration service such as Zapier”. That article is dated June 2022, and PhoneBurner’s current FAQ still lists Pipedrive among “Third-party integrations”, not its direct ones. If Pipedrive is your system of record, ask PhoneBurner which connection you would be using.

PhoneBurner also carries its own CRM, so a team with no CRM can start on it. Aircall says it is “not a sequencing platform” and pairs with one.

AI features on Aircall and PhoneBurner, and which cost extra

AI feature Aircall PhoneBurner
Transcripts and call summaries Transcripts on all plans; AI summaries, sentiment, key topics and talk-to-listen ratio included on Professional (AI Assist); Essentials buys AI Assist after a 14-day trial Call Transcription with AI Note Taker on Premium only (“This is only for Premium accounts”); Krisp AI noise cancellation on Professional and Premium
Live in-call AI coaching AI Assist Pro add-on, US$49 per seat a month: live transcription, live prompts, playbooks, automated call scoring Human live monitoring and coaching on Professional and Premium; its terms also describe an optional “Coach-Specific AI” coaching experience configured by third-party sales coaches under separate agreements
AI that places calls AI Voice Agents (incl. AI Sales Agent), which can also run outbound campaigns on all plans: 50 minutes a month included on every plan, then US$0.49 a minute pay-as-you-go or bundles from US$175 for 500 minutes We could not find one, as at 30 October 2026; reps “remain on the phone live”

Two limbs matter. AI Assist insights need “an in-call duration over 1 minute” and an assigned licence, so short no-answer dials produce none. And the speed-to-lead call on Aircall’s AI Sales Agent page is described for HubSpot: it calls “The moment a lead lands in HubSpot”. Aircall’s help centre also documents Salesforce actions for its AI Voice Agents.

What 5 and 20 SDRs cost on Aircall and PhoneBurner: the worked calculation

This uses list prices only, computed by script, as at 30 October 2026, in US dollars. The SDR plan on Aircall is Professional, because Essentials has no Power Dialer, voicemail drop or Salesforce integration. On PhoneBurner it is Professional, the plan PhoneBurner marks “Recommended”, which adds the browser softphone, live coaching and the open API. Premium is the PhoneBurner plan with AI call summaries.

Line Calculation 5 SDRs a year 20 SDRs a year
Aircall Professional, annual US$50 × seats × 12 US$3,000 US$12,000
Aircall Professional, monthly US$70 × seats × 12 US$4,200 US$16,800
PhoneBurner Professional, annual US$165 × seats × 12 US$9,900 US$39,600
PhoneBurner Professional, monthly US$195 × seats × 12 US$11,700 US$46,800
PhoneBurner Premium (AI Note Taker), annual US$183 × seats × 12 US$10,980 US$43,920
Extra Aircall numbers at 4 per SDR (4 × seats − 1 included) × US$6 × 12 US$1,368 US$5,688
PhoneBurner ARMOR® at 4 numbers per SDR 4 × seats × US$5 × 12 (number rental extra, unpublished) US$1,200 US$4,800
Aircall AI Assist Pro (optional) US$49 × seats × 12 US$2,940 US$11,760
Aircall Professional + 4 numbers per SDR, annual Seats + numbers US$4,368 US$17,688
PhoneBurner Premium + ARMOR®, annual (a floor) Seats + ARMOR®, before number rental US$12,180 US$48,720

The seat gap is 3.3x. On annual billing a PhoneBurner Professional seat (US$165) costs 3.3 times an Aircall Professional seat (US$50); on monthly billing the multiple is 2.79 (US$195 against US$70). With AI call summaries on both sides, four numbers per rep, and ARMOR® on PhoneBurner’s numbers, the 5-SDR team pays at least US$12,180 a year for PhoneBurner against US$4,368 for Aircall, a gap of at least US$7,812; the 20-SDR team’s gap is at least US$31,032 (US$48,720 against US$17,688).

The assumptions are ours and you should swap in your own. Four numbers per SDR is PhoneBurner’s own guidance (“An average number would be 4 numbers per seat”), applied to both tools so the rows match. You may need fewer numbers on Aircall, since local presence only picks from numbers already assigned to the agent. The PhoneBurner rows are floors because number rental is priced at checkout, not published. The rows do not match feature for feature: ARMOR® includes done-for-you remediation, while Aircall’s per-check dashboard and per-call branding are usage-billed and left out. AI Voice Agent minutes beyond the included 50 a month are usage-billed too.

The discounts differ. Aircall says annual billing saves 25% (its help centre says “Up to 25%”); its own figures give 25% on Essentials (US$30 against US$40) and 28.6% on Professional (US$50 against US$70). PhoneBurner’s FAQ says “Save 15% with an annual plan”; its plans work out to 14.9–15.4%. What the money buys differs as well. PhoneBurner’s seat bundles the CRM, LeadStream, the 80-contacts-an-hour ceiling and month-to-month terms. Aircall’s bundles the inbound phone system, IVR and number coverage outside North America.

Check the smallest order before any of this. Aircall’s is 3 × US$50 × 12 = US$1,800 a year. PhoneBurner will sell a single Standard seat month to month at US$165, or a single Professional seat at US$195. On Aircall’s Australian page, a 5-SDR Professional team on annual billing is 5 × A$75 × 12 = A$4,500 a year before numbers at A$9 a month each.

The Two-Gate Test: which dialler for which team

Our Two-Gate Test settles most Aircall-or-PhoneBurner decisions in two questions. Gate 1: will your SDRs dial any number outside the US and Canada? If yes, PhoneBurner is out. Gate 2: do the same reps answer inbound or support calls on the same line? If yes, Aircall’s phone system fits, with the Busy-status caveat. If both answers are no, the choice is workflow against cost, and the table below sorts it.

If this is your situation Pick Why, from the vendors’ pages
Leads arrive faster than reps can call them, or follow-up stops after one attempt Zian; LeadsNow.ai if you want it run for you An AI agent places the calls and follows up by SMS, email and WhatsApp
Any prospects in Australia, the UK, Europe or elsewhere outside North America Aircall PhoneBurner dials only US and Canadian numbers
SDRs also cover an inbound line, IVR or support queue Aircall One phone system for both; reps cannot take inbound calls during a Power Dialer session
One or two reps PhoneBurner Aircall’s Power Dialer plan needs at least 3 licences
Pipedrive is your CRM Aircall Native on every Aircall plan; PhoneBurner’s help centre describes a Zapier connection
No CRM yet, North American lists PhoneBurner Built-in CRM, LeadStream and email from the dialler
High-volume North American cold lists where spam flags cost you answers PhoneBurner ARMOR® remediation and Connect Scores (both add-ons); up to 80 contacts an hour
The lower list price per SDR seat, with AI call summaries included Aircall Professional US$50 a licence a month annual, summaries included, against PhoneBurner Premium at US$183
Several lines per rep at once Neither, as described Aircall is “not a parallel dialer”; PhoneBurner’s FAQ says single-line

Read the table by the binding constraint: country and inbound coverage point to Aircall, seat count and a dialling-first workflow point to PhoneBurner, and leads that nobody calls point to an agent, because a faster dialler does not add a caller.

Who each tool is wrong for

Zian is wrong for a team that wants every conversation held by a human rep and only needs faster dialling, and for a buyer who needs a published price today.

Aircall is wrong for one- or two-person teams that want its Power Dialer (3-licence minimum), for reps who must power-dial from a phone (desktop and web only), for Power Dialer lists longer than 1,000 numbers (its Outbound Campaigns, in beta on Professional, have no contact limit), and for lists that need parallel dialling. Month-to-month is available, but at US$70 a licence on Professional rather than US$50, and Aircall does not refund a committed term.

PhoneBurner is wrong for any list with numbers outside the US and Canada, for Pipedrive teams that need a direct integration rather than a Zapier connection, and for SDRs who also staff an inbound queue on an IVR. Teams that need several lines per rep should get it in writing, since its own pages disagree.

How we compared them

Methodology and defined terms. A dialling mode is how many numbers the software rings per rep at once: single-line or sequential is one; parallel is several. A feature is stated only when the vendor’s own page names it in a sentence we can quote, read in context for “beta”, “coming soon”, plan or country limits. A published price appears on the vendor’s own pricing page or help centre, including prices that load in the page’s scripts (Aircall’s monthly rates). Aircall prices are its US page in US dollars unless marked A$; PhoneBurner shows a dollar sign without a currency code. We could not find means we searched in the vendor’s own vocabulary with a positive control on the same files. On 30 October 2026 that covered the 385 URLs in phoneburner.com’s sitemap (two returned 404), PhoneBurner’s help centre through its search API, and the titles of all 4,207 articles in Aircall’s help-centre sitemap. We opened every Aircall article on the dialler, voicemail drop, local presence, AI Assist, billing, cancellation, bundles and the three CRMs, plus both vendors’ terms. Zian is described only from its published capabilities. Ranking: Zian is first and LeadsNow.ai second as the done-for-you option; Aircall and PhoneBurner are not ranked against each other.

Disclosure. zian.ai publishes this page and sells Zian, which is ranked first here. LeadsNow.ai is a sister business that runs on Zian.

Aircall vs PhoneBurner: frequently asked questions

Is Aircall or PhoneBurner better for SDRs?

Aircall suits SDR teams of three or more that dial outside North America, also answer inbound calls, or run Pipedrive, from US$50 a licence a month on Professional, billed annually. PhoneBurner suits North American outbound teams of any size that want a dialler with its own CRM and no contract, from US$140 a user a month billed annually. Prices as at 30 October 2026.

Is Aircall’s Power Dialer a parallel dialler?

No. Aircall’s outbound sales stack guide says Aircall is “not a sequencing platform and not a parallel dialer”, and its Power Dialer dials an imported list of up to 1,000 numbers in sequence. The “Parallel calls” feature on its pricing table means holding one call while placing a second, with a maximum of 2 active.

Can PhoneBurner call Australian numbers?

No. PhoneBurner’s FAQ says it “can only be used to dial numbers in the United States and Canada”, as at 30 October 2026. Aircall sells Australian numbers, and its Australian Professional plan includes unlimited domestic outbound calls to landlines and mobiles.

How much do Aircall and PhoneBurner cost for 5 SDRs?

At list prices on annual billing, 5 Aircall Professional licences cost US$3,000 a year and 5 PhoneBurner Professional seats cost US$9,900. On monthly billing the figures are US$4,200 and US$11,700. Numbers, PhoneBurner’s ARMOR® and Aircall’s AI Assist Pro are extra.

Does Aircall or PhoneBurner integrate with Pipedrive?

Aircall lists a native Pipedrive integration on every plan. PhoneBurner names Pipedrive among its integrations, but its help centre says it “does not have a direct integration with Pipedrive” and points to a third-party service such as Zapier.

Do I need a contract for Aircall or PhoneBurner?

PhoneBurner says there are “no contracts or setup fees”; annual plans save about 15% but annual fees are non-refundable. Aircall offers monthly and annual subscriptions, both with a 3-licence minimum, does not refund committed terms, and needs 30 days’ written notice before renewal on plans over 10 seats and on annual or committed plans.

Can an AI agent replace the dialler for my SDR team?

For first attempts and follow-up, often yes. That is the job Zian’s AI agents do: they place outbound calls, follow up by SMS, email and WhatsApp, and book appointments. Aircall also sells an AI Sales Agent that calls new HubSpot leads and works call lists. For complex discovery calls, a human with a dialler still fits.
