Aircall vs Quo, formerly OpenPhone: Which to Pick - Zian AI

Aircall vs Quo, formerly OpenPhone: Which to Pick

Quick answer: Quo (formerly OpenPhone) is cheaper: Business costs US$23 a user a month billed annually, no minimum stated, against US$30 for Aircall Essentials with a 3-licence minimum, and Quo won our worked bill at 3, 10 and 25 users. Aircall’s AI agent does more: 38 languages, calendar booking, outbound calls. Prices as at 4 November 2026.

Aircall and Quo both sell a cloud business phone with an AI voice agent built in, but for different buyers. Aircall is a business phone and call-centre platform for teams of three or more, with US, Australian, UK and European price lists, whose AI Voice Agents (also sold as its AI Receptionist) answer calls, book appointments and run outbound AI campaigns. Quo is a per-user phone for small teams with US and Canadian numbers; its AI agent, Sona, answers inbound calls and, in beta, captures leads over SMS. Every vendor fact below comes from aircall.io, support.aircall.io, quo.com and support.quo.com, read on 4 November 2026, in US dollars unless marked A$.

Where Zian fits next to Aircall or Quo

If the job is answering every caller and chasing every lead, pick the AI agent first and the phone seats second. Zian AI is an AI sales and reception agents platform: its agents answer inbound calls 24/7 as an AI receptionist that qualifies callers, books appointments, transfers and takes messages, and they run outbound follow-up by voice calls, SMS, email, WhatsApp, Instagram DMs and Facebook Messenger, with answering-machine and voicemail handling on calls.

Zian’s SmartReach AI™ picks the message, channel and timing of each follow-up, and PrecisionPitch AI™ keeps split-testing scripts against real outcomes. Zian works in 30+ languages, supports voice cloning, looks things up on the web and in your knowledge base, and connects to HubSpot, Salesforce, HighLevel and Zapier. Zian’s home page counts 50,769+ qualified sales appointments set and says its AI books 40+ meetings/week for many teams.

Aircall’s AI Voice Agents and Quo’s Sona compete for part of that job and are covered fairly below; Sona works only on Quo numbers and inbound calls, Aircall’s agents on Aircall lines. Zian runs inbound answering and multi-channel outbound follow-up from one platform. Zian is in a partnership-application beta with no published prices; each of its three listed plans, including Intel + Widgets (Free Forever), starts with a partnership application. If you would rather hand the whole job over, LeadsNow.ai runs managed AI appointment setting on Zian, paid per result, with leads answered in under 60 seconds, 24/7.

Aircall vs Quo: the shortlist

Ranked for a buyer whose goal is answered calls and booked appointments. Disclosure: zian.ai publishes this list and Zian appears in it; the method is under “How we compared Aircall and Quo”.

# Option What it is AI that talks to callers Price basis, as at 4 November 2026
1 Zian AI (platform pick) AI sales and reception agents platform, inbound and outbound AI receptionist 24/7; outbound voice, SMS, email, WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger; 30+ languages Partnership-application beta; no published prices; Intel + Widgets listed as Free Forever
2 LeadsNow.ai (done-for-you pick) Managed AI appointment setting and lead generation that runs on Zian Leads answered in under 60 seconds, 24/7; 50,769+ appointments Pay-per-result
3 Aircall Business phone and call-centre platform, minimum 3 licences AI Voice Agents: inbound and outbound, 38 languages, books and reschedules on the call US$30–50 a licence a month annual (US$40–70 monthly); AI 50 minutes a month included, then US$0.29 a minute or bundles
4 Quo (formerly OpenPhone) Per-user business phone for small teams, US and Canadian numbers Sona: inbound calls only; English, Spanish, French; SMS lead capture in beta US$15–35 a user a month annual (US$19–47 monthly); Sona 10 calls free, paid tiers US$25–199 a month

Is Quo the same as OpenPhone?

Yes. Quo’s changelog entry of 23 September 2025, headed “OpenPhone is now Quo”, says “OpenPhone has a new name — Quo. Same platform you know and love.” openphone.com now redirects to quo.com, and Quo’s fair-use policy names the company “OpenPhone (DBA: Quo)”. A review of OpenPhone describes the same product, but check its prices against Quo’s current page.

Aircall vs Quo pricing, plan by plan

Aircall prices per licence with a floor of three; Quo prices per user with no minimum stated on its pricing page, plans article or subscription article. Aircall’s plans article says “Most plans require a minimum of 3 licenses”, and its pricing table puts Enterprise at 25.

Plan Billed annually (per user a month) Billed monthly Minimum Numbers included What the tier adds
Quo Starter US$15 (US$180 a year) US$19 None stated 1 per user; extra US$5 a month US and Canada calling and texting, voicemail transcripts, Quo API, Sona; AI summaries only on Sona-handled calls; a shared number for up to 10 paid users
Quo Business US$23 (US$276 a year) US$33 None stated 1 per user; extra US$5 AI call summaries and transcripts on all calls, call transfers, phone menus, HubSpot and Salesforce, auto call recording, live chat support
Quo Scale US$35 (US$420 a year) US$47 None stated 1 per user; extra US$5 AI call tags, dedicated onboarding, priority support, inbound phone support
Aircall Essentials US$30 US$40 3 licences 1 per plan; extra US$6 a month Unlimited US and Canada calls (Terms of Use apply), SMS and MMS, IVR, recordings and AI transcripts, 250+ integrations incl. HubSpot, 50 AI Voice Agent minutes; up to 3 teams
Aircall Professional US$50 US$70 3 licences 1 per plan; extra US$6 AI call summaries and conversation intelligence, smart routing, queue callback, Power Dialer, outbound call campaigns, Salesforce, full API
Aircall Enterprise Custom Custom 25 licences 1 per plan; extra US$6 Unlimited global calls, SSO and SCIM, enterprise SLA
Aircall Starter AI Plan US$100 a month minimum US$125 (page script) None; includes 1 user “Native Aircall numbers and business telephony” AI Voice Agents standalone, “with or without a phone system”

Annual billing saves 21.1% on Quo Starter, 30.3% on Business and 25.5% on Scale, against 25% on Aircall Essentials and 28.6% on Professional (Aircall’s page says “Save 25% by paying annually”). The number rule is easy to miss. Quo gives every user their own local or toll-free number. Aircall’s pricing table lists “1 local or toll-free” number “included in the plan”, and its FAQ says one “per plan”. So a team that wants a direct line for each person pays US$6 a month for each line after the first on Aircall. Aircall’s plans article adds that annual upfront licences “are locked for the year and cannot be reduced mid-term”.

Behind the headline prices, Quo’s unlimited US and Canada calling is “Subject to our Fair Usage Policy”, which reserves the right “to impose limits and charge overages”, and Aircall’s carries “Terms of Use apply”. For Australian teams Aircall publishes its own price list: Essentials is A$45 a licence a month billed annually (A$60 monthly) with 1,000 domestic outbound minutes a user, and Professional is A$75 (A$105 monthly) with unlimited domestic outbound calls.

Aircall AI Voice Agents vs Quo Sona: what each does on a call

This is where the two differ most. Aircall sells a broad AI agent that can run without its phone seats; Sona is a narrower inbound receptionist inside a Quo call flow.

Question Aircall AI Voice Agents Quo Sona
Inbound calls Yes, 24/7 Yes, 24/7
Outbound calls Yes: “Trigger-based outbound calling and voicemail detection”; AI-only outbound campaigns (Essentials: “AI Voice Agents campaigns only”) No: “Sona currently answers only inbound calls”
Booking “Reviews your calendar and schedules, reschedules, or cancels appointments on the call itself” Texts the caller a scheduling link during the call (Send SMS action)
Languages 38 English, Spanish, French; two Quo pages disagree on switching mid-call (see below)
Transfers Transfers with the transcript and context; can hand off to a second AI agent with context Transfers to a teammate, inbox or external number; Sona “leaves the call entirely and cannot return”
Texting Can send an SMS to the caller during a live call; separate AI Messaging Agents for SMS and WhatsApp at US$0.15–0.35 a conversation Sona lead capture over SMS, beta since 17 August 2026, free while in beta
Works without the vendor’s phone seats Yes: Starter AI Plan from US$100 a month No: “Sona is built to be used in Quo only”
Free usage 50 minutes a month on core plans; 100 trial minutes once for new accounts 1,000 credits (about 10 calls) a month on all three Quo plans

Two Quo pages disagree on languages, so here are both. Sona’s product FAQ says “Sona cannot detect or switch between languages mid-call.” Quo’s Sona setup article, in a language section marked Beta, says that with two or three languages selected Sona will “Detect the language the caller is speaking and respond in that same language.” Test it on a mock call before you rely on it.

The limb that cuts against Quo is outbound work: Sona cannot call a lead back, and Quo’s fair-use policy, under “Rules for Calling on Quo”, says “Do not use bots, auto-dialers, or any automated calling systems under any circumstances”. We could not find a power dialler on Quo’s pricing page, plans article or changelog, as at 4 November 2026. The limb that cuts against Aircall is the floor: three licences, and AI summaries of human calls only on Professional or with the AI Assist add-on.

How Aircall and Quo bill AI calls: per decimal minute or per call

The billing unit decides which AI line is cheaper, so check it before you compare totals. Aircall bills its AI Voice Agents by time. Its billing article, updated 3 November 2026, says “Calls are billed to the exact decimal minute (e.g., 66 seconds = 1.10 minutes)” and “Calls shorter than 15 seconds are not billable.” The 50 included minutes are used first. After that you pay US$0.29 a minute pay as you go, or buy a monthly bundle: 1,000 minutes for US$250, 3,500 for US$805 or 10,000 for US$1,900. Bundle minutes expire each cycle, overage is billed “at standard rates”, and Aircall’s AI Receptionist page says bundles are “monthly billing, annual term”. Outbound AI calls cost more than the minutes: the same billing article adds a call origination fee of US$0.015 for every outbound AI call attempt, charged even if the call does not connect and not included in any minute bundle.

Quo bills Sona by the answered call: 100 credits a call, whatever its length, with calls under 15 seconds free and 1,000 free credits (about 10 calls) a workspace a month. Paid tiers are US$25 for 40 calls, US$49 for 100, US$99 for 250 and US$199 for 600, with overage of US$1.00 a call on the free tier, then US$0.75, US$0.65, US$0.55 and US$0.45. Overages are off by default, so when credits run out Sona “stops answering” and calls take your call flow’s fallback path. Credits do not roll over.

One pricing contradiction is Aircall’s own. Its pricing FAQ says volumes of “10,000+ minutes” get “custom rates starting from $0.19/minute”, while the table on the same page lists the 10,000-minute bundle at US$1,900 and “Over 50,000 minutes” at “Custom pricing (as low as $0.12)”. Ask for the rate in writing: Aircall’s billing article says your rates “depend on your contract and when you subscribed”.

What 3, 10 and 25 users cost on Aircall and Quo: the worked bill

List prices only, computed by script on 4 November 2026, in US dollars a month, before taxes, international calls, texting fees and 10DLC fees. Assumptions: Aircall Essentials against Quo Business (each vendor’s lowest tier that includes HubSpot and call transfers); AI-answered calls growing with the team at 60, 200 and 500 calls a month; an average AI-answered call of 2.5 minutes, every call over 15 seconds; one shared main number. For each vendor we used the cheapest published AI option for that volume. We treated Quo’s paid Sona tiers as replacing the free 10 calls rather than adding to them, and Aircall’s 50 included minutes as one allowance for the account.

Team, billed annually Aircall seats (Essentials) Aircall AI minutes Aircall total Quo seats (Business) Quo Sona Quo total Aircall, one direct line per user
3 users, 60 AI calls US$90 US$29.00 (150 min − 50 free = 100 × US$0.29) US$119.00 US$69 US$40.00 (US$25 tier + 20 × US$0.75) US$109.00 US$131.00 (+2 × US$6)
10 users, 200 AI calls US$300 US$130.50 (450 min × US$0.29) US$430.50 US$230 US$99.00 (250-call tier) US$329.00 US$484.50 (+9 × US$6)
25 users, 500 AI calls US$750 US$308.00 (1,000-minute bundle US$250 + 200 × US$0.29) US$1,058.00 US$575 US$199.00 (600-call tier) US$774.00 US$1,202.00 (+24 × US$6)

On monthly billing the same three teams cost US$149.00, US$530.50 and US$1,308.00 on Aircall, against US$139.00, US$429.00 and US$1,024.00 on Quo. On these inputs Quo is the lower bill at all three sizes, and the gap widens with the team: US$10 a month at 3 users, US$101.50 at 10 and US$284 at 25 on annual billing. Most of that gap is the seat line, US$7 a seat a month on both billing cycles. Below three users Aircall still bills three licences, so a solo operator pays US$90 a month on Essentials against US$23 on Quo Business, both billed annually; Aircall’s Starter AI Plan (US$100 a month, one user) is the route if you only want the AI agent.

The bill does not price what you get: Aircall’s agent books into your calendar in 38 languages and runs outbound campaigns, while Sona texts a booking link on inbound calls only, though Quo Business gives every human call an AI summary that Aircall reserves for Professional or the AI Assist add-on.

The Call-Length Hinge

The Call-Length Hinge: the average AI-answered call length at which Aircall’s per-minute AI line and Quo’s per-call Sona line cost the same. Shorter calls favour Aircall; longer calls favour Quo. At list prices the hinge falls as volume rises: about 188 seconds at 60 calls a month, 117 seconds at 200 and 88 seconds at 500.

It falls because Quo’s price per call drops as you climb its tiers (US$0.67 a call at 60 calls, US$0.50 at 200, US$0.40 at 500) while Aircall’s rate stays at US$0.29 a minute. To find yours, take the cheapest Quo Sona cost for your monthly call count, divide it by US$0.29, add Aircall’s 50 free minutes, then divide by your call count. That gives the hinge in minutes. At 200 calls: US$99 ÷ US$0.29 = 341.4 minutes, plus 50 is 391.4, divided by 200 is 1.96 minutes, about 117 seconds. Take your real average from call logs: an agent that mostly gives opening hours runs short, one that qualifies and books runs long.

Average AI-answered call 60 calls a month: Aircall vs Quo 200 calls: Aircall vs Quo 500 calls: Aircall vs Quo
1.5 minutes US$11.60 vs US$40.00 US$72.50 vs US$99.00 US$203.00 vs US$199.00
2.5 minutes US$29.00 vs US$40.00 US$130.50 vs US$99.00 US$308.00 vs US$199.00
4 minutes US$55.10 vs US$40.00 US$217.50 vs US$99.00 US$525.50 vs US$199.00

The hinge compares AI lines only: at 60 calls of 2.5 minutes Aircall’s AI line is cheaper, yet Quo’s seats still make it the smaller total.

Texting and A2P 10DLC on Aircall and Quo

Both need US carrier registration before you text US numbers from a standard local number, and both pass the registry fees through. Quo says every customer texting US numbers must register, and that “Most approvals happen within 24-48 hours; others have remained in pending status for up to 20 days”, and in rare cases where key information cannot be verified it “may take longer than 30 days”. Its fees: US$19.50 one-time, US$1.50 to US$3 a month, US$15 to resubmit. Aircall registers with The Campaign Registry for you and says carrier vetting takes “5–30 business days”; fees are US$4.50 one-time (Low Volume and Sole Proprietor brands) or US$46 (Standard), US$15 per vetting attempt, and US$1.50 to US$10 a month by campaign type. Aircall trial accounts cannot register. If 10DLC timing is your blocker, our page on how long A2P 10DLC registration takes walks through each stage.

Aircall’s two pages disagree on volume: its pricing footnote says “4000 outbound messages per user per month”, its SMS limits article “13,000 segments per user, per month”, plus per-number caps. Quo includes app texting to US and Canadian numbers, but charges US$0.01 a segment for texts sent through its API, Zapier or Make.

Can an Australian business use Quo or Aircall?

Aircall, yes; Quo, only with North American numbers. Quo’s help centre says “we do not yet support numbers outside of the US and Canada”. You can still call out to other countries on Quo from prepaid credits; its rates page lists Australia at US$0.05 to US$0.33 a minute for calls and US$0.11 a text. We could not find a rounding rule for Quo’s international call minutes on its rates page or its credits article, as at 4 November 2026. International calling is not available during Quo’s 7-day trial.

Aircall sells numbers in many more places, though its pages give different counts: its country-coverage page lists 38 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Singapore, while its AI Receptionist FAQ says “100+ countries”. Its Australian AI pay-as-you-go rate is A$0.44 a minute. To compare total AI receptionist spend rather than phone seats, our guide to AI receptionist cost for a small business lays out the cost drivers.

Integrations, trials and cancelling

Aircall lists 250+ integrations; HubSpot, Zendesk, Pipedrive, Intercom, Slack and Zoho are on Essentials, while Salesforce needs Professional. Quo’s pricing page lists HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho CRM, Pipedrive, Attio, Clio, Jobber, Gong, HighLevel, Housecall Pro and JobTread, plus Zapier, Make and webhooks, with HubSpot and Salesforce from Business; two-way HighLevel contact sync arrived on 30 September 2026.

Trials: Quo offers 7 days free; Aircall offers free access with 100 AI Voice Agent minutes, and a 100-minute call limit on trial accounts. Cancelling: Quo keeps your plan active to the end of the billing cycle, but its own pages disagree on how long your numbers survive: the pricing page says numbers are “saved for 60 days”, while its subscription article says “Phone numbers held for 30 days maximum”. Port out before day 30 to be safe. The same article says “Payments already made are non-refundable”. Aircall lets accounts of 1 to 10 seats self-cancel without the 30-day notice. That notice still applies to annual or committed plans and to accounts over 10 seats, and Aircall’s cancellation article says a committed term is not refunded. If Aircall’s other matchups are on your list, our Aircall vs JustCall comparison covers the dialler side, and Dialpad vs Quo covers Quo against a sales-led AI product.

Pick Aircall if, pick Quo if: the decision table

Your situation Lean towards Why, from the vendors’ own pages
1 or 2 people, US or Canadian numbers Quo No minimum stated; Aircall’s phone system bills 3 licences
Everyone needs their own number Quo One number per user included; Aircall includes one per plan, US$6 for each extra
Callers need an appointment booked on the call Aircall AI books, reschedules and cancels on the call; Sona texts a link
You want AI to call leads back or run outbound campaigns Aircall Sona answers inbound only, and Quo’s fair-use policy bars automated calling
Callers speak languages other than English, Spanish or French Aircall 38 languages against 3
Australian, UK or European numbers Aircall Quo supports US and Canadian numbers only
Short AI calls at low volume (under the Call-Length Hinge) Aircall’s AI line Per-decimal-minute billing beats per-call credits on short calls
Longer AI calls or higher volume (over the hinge) Quo’s Sona Per-call price falls to US$0.33–0.40 a call on the top tiers
Salesforce at the lowest seat price Quo Quo Business (US$23 annual) includes Salesforce; Aircall needs Professional (US$50 annual); Quo Starter does not include it

Who each option is wrong for

Zian is wrong for a buyer who needs a published price today or a desk phone system with seats for human agents. It is an AI agents platform in a partnership-application beta, and it does not publish prices. LeadsNow.ai is wrong for a team that wants to run its own scripts and settings in-house; it is a managed, pay-per-result service.

Aircall is wrong for a one- or two-person team that only wants a phone line (the phone system bills three licences), for a team that wants a direct number per person at the lowest seat price, and for long AI calls at volume. Quo is wrong for any business that needs numbers outside the US and Canada, an AI that calls leads back, a power dialler, calendar booking on the call, or a language beyond English, Spanish and French.

How we compared Aircall and Quo

We read each vendor’s own pricing page, help centre and changelog on 4 November 2026, including Aircall’s Australian price list and its August and September 2026 release notes, and Quo’s changelog from August to November 2026. Where a price loads from page script (Aircall’s monthly rates), we read the script; where two pages from one vendor disagree, we printed both. A capability counts only where the vendor’s own page states it, and Zian is described only from its published capabilities. By editorial policy Zian ranks first as the platform pick and LeadsNow.ai second as the done-for-you pick; Aircall and Quo are third and fourth as phone systems with AI attached, in no order of merit between them. The worked bill uses list prices and stated assumptions, not a quote.

Aircall vs Quo: frequently asked questions

Is Aircall or Quo cheaper for a small team?

On list prices read on 4 November 2026, Quo is cheaper on seats at every team size we tested. Quo Business is US$23 a user a month billed annually with no minimum stated, against US$30 a licence for Aircall Essentials with a 3-licence minimum (Aircall pricing, Quo pricing). With AI answering added, our worked bill came to US$109 on Quo and US$119 on Aircall for 3 users, before taxes and texting fees.

Is Quo the same company as OpenPhone?

Yes. Quo’s changelog entry of 23 September 2025 is headed “OpenPhone is now Quo” and says “OpenPhone has a new name — Quo. Same platform you know and love.” (Quo changelog). openphone.com now redirects to quo.com.

Can Quo’s Sona make outbound calls?

No. Quo’s Sona page says “Sona currently answers only inbound calls” (Quo Sona FAQ), and we found no outbound Sona entry in Quo’s changelog for August to November 2026. Aircall’s AI Voice Agents list “Trigger-based outbound calling and voicemail detection” and AI-only outbound campaigns.

How does Aircall bill its AI Voice Agent minutes?

To the exact decimal minute. Aircall’s billing article says “Calls are billed to the exact decimal minute (e.g., 66 seconds = 1.10 minutes)” and calls shorter than 15 seconds are not billable (Aircall help centre). Each core plan includes 50 minutes a month, then US$0.29 a minute pay as you go or a monthly bundle.

How does Quo bill Sona?

Per answered call, using credits: 100 credits a call, 1,000 free credits (about 10 calls) a month, and calls under 15 seconds do not count (Sona pricing article). Paid tiers run from US$25 for 40 calls to US$199 for 600 calls. Overages are off by default, so Sona stops answering when credits run out.

Can an Australian business use Quo?

Only with North American numbers. Quo’s help centre says “we do not yet support numbers outside of the US and Canada” (Quo local numbers). Aircall sells Australian numbers and an Australian price list, with Essentials at A$45 a licence a month billed annually.

Do I need A2P 10DLC registration on Aircall and Quo?

Yes, to text US numbers from a standard local number on either. Quo says every customer texting US numbers must register, with a US$19.50 one-time fee and US$1.50 to US$3 a month (Quo carrier registration). Aircall registers with The Campaign Registry on your behalf and says carrier vetting takes 5–30 business days.
